Fresco filmfest to host Iran’s ‘This Side, Other Side’

Iranian short animation ‘This Side, Other Side’ has been scheduled to be screened at the Fresco International Film Festival in Armenia.

Lida Fazli’s animation will compete at the seventh edition of the Armenian event held annually in the city of Yerevan.

Peace seeking and disregard for war have been the subjects of many renowned artistic creations for long. Fazli has contributed her part to this old tradition by her ‘This Side, Other Side’.

The short title shows how the children of two opposite sides of a border cherish each other’s company, regardless of the fact that their countries are burning in the fire of a war that the adults have brought upon them.

The film has already been screened at various global events, including the Animage Int’l film festival in Brazil, the Smile Int’l Film Festival for Children & Youth in India, the ifva Awards in China and the Termeh Iranian Cultural Festival in Germany.

According to the official website of the Fresco International Film Festival, it “contains competitive and non-competitive programs. Fiction and documentary, full-length and short-length films and video materials of different formats, in which wars, violence, national, religious and any other types of discrimination, ecological disasters of human origin are denounced, and where peace, tolerance, humanism and global values are advocated”.

This year’s edition of the Fresco, also set to host Iranian short film ‘Azadeh’, is slated for August 23-30, 2020.
